Balzar Architects is an author practice founded in Valencia in 2018, working internationally across architecture, interior design and landscape. One architectural intelligence carries each project from its first idea to its last construction detail — a private house, a residential development, a hotel. Form is the consequence of construction, never a discourse added to it; proportion, measure and light are its instruments. The studio takes on work where this position can hold, and builds for what lasts.
The studio
From the first decision to the site, the same intelligence stays on the work. Concept and construction are resolved together, never separated and handed on. The building arrives as it was conceived because the people who conceived it carry it through, whether it is a house, a residential development or a hotel.

There are places where colour seems to belong to the architecture, and places where it seems applied to it. The difference is rarely a question of technique. It is a question of origin — whether the pigment comes from the ground on which the building stands, or from somewhere else entirely.

In hot climates, the boundary between inside and outside has never been a line. It has always been a zone, sometimes shallow and sometimes deep, where the building lets go of the interior gradually. This is the room where life happens.

The cities we return to most often are built from repetition, not singularity. Venice, the hutongs of Beijing, the riads of the Maghreb. Repetition is one of the oldest ways of making a place. The question is never whether to repeat, but what to repeat, and how much difference the rule allows.
